The world he left was born of sorrow,
Torn apart by greed and hate,
He set a course into tomorrow,
Far beyond the quantum gate.
He found the peace he dearly wanted,
In a strange and distant place,
But some nights he fears it haunted,
By the dreams that cross the space.
So when the astral paths align,
He always has to find the time,
To watch the transit of a distant star,
The tiny spec of palest blue,
Containing all he ever knew,
Sweet memories so close and yet so far.
A perfect sphere is spinning, falling,
Just a white dot in the sky,
He curses when he sees it stalling,
Is there time for one last try?
Torn apart by greed and hate,
He set a course into tomorrow,
Far beyond the quantum gate.
He found the peace he dearly wanted,
In a strange and distant place,
But some nights he fears it haunted,
By the dreams that cross the space.
So when the astral paths align,
He always has to find the time,
To watch the transit of a distant star,
The tiny spec of palest blue,
Containing all he ever knew,
Sweet memories so close and yet so far.
A perfect sphere is spinning, falling,
Just a white dot in the sky,
He curses when he sees it stalling,
Is there time for one last try?

Great video and it must feel good that your lyrics are being put to good use, although probably not as you expected (at least that is always my experience but I'm usually pleasantly surprised).

Thanks BB - As I've said before, I write for fun
better here than in my head for some of the nonsense...
I'm always chuffed if someone can find a way to use them. Often someone puts something together and I think WTF! that was folky in my head and you made it metal - but DAMN its good. Sometimes someone reads your mind and you hear something exactly as it formed in your head - which is pretty trippy.
Sometimes you write something that you think is perfection and nobody even likes it let alone sets it to music. I just pick myself up ,dust myself down and write more sh*t. As Zappa said, , my stuff is intrinsically no better or worse than anyone else's - it's just a matter of taste.
John actually reached out and asked about a lyric around the idea of someone who'd left earth for a better life and then felt homesick staring up at the sky and looking for the blue dot. Which I loved so I wrote a couple of verses which are now part of his wonderful song!
When we started there was more golf... I sh*t you not.

Awesome quote, and I think most wikiloopers know that and it's what keeps this community together!
