Synth musicians do it by themselves

There are some amazing templates uploaded by keyboardists using synths, but it worries me that they are so complete and self contained. If you have a good keyboard you have the whole orchestra at your fingertips. There's no space for another instrument add. Maybe there should be a way to indicate your song is a fait accompli !

And while I think about it, do you have a car sticker, poster or footnote that applies to your instrument or music style ... are there such things.... or can anyone make some up ?

I have collaborated with some talented, artistic individuals, but mostly I'd say they were NOT good in teams - they want to do it all themselves. The end result is all about them and their ultimate vision. The rest of the team are used purely for the admiration and encouragement they give. Actually I am a bit like this myself (but without all the necessary skills) :(

I wrote a poem about one such person, I could have put it in the Lyrics Forum, but I've already produced a song from it. Would you admit to being like the person in my poem or are you a really good team player ?

The One Man Band

You were born to this world like some alien messiah, always precocious, ahead of your peers
Your interests were high and your energy higher, mind always busting with unique ideas
Deep and intriguing, touched and effected, mind never shuts off, sleep is a waste
You're easily hurt and can soon feel dejected, annoyed by the people who prattle in haste

Being a tortured genius is a blessing and a curse
you're misunderstood, or rejected, or worse
But you don't really want them to understand
You're just happy as an island, or a one-man-band

You form an opinion and stand to defend, despising injustice, detesting unfair
You're honest and open and never pretend that the gifts you possess aren't exceedingly rare
Your world is so complex yet somehow it's right, you remember the detail of things that you love
Though your interpretation seems odd at first sight, soon the logic shines through like a shaft from above


Being a tortured genius is fraught with pain and angst
You're filled with frustration and you get little thanks
But genius and insanity go hand in hand
You're a happy oasis or a one-man-band

I’ve had the privilege of knowing a few of those, Shamika .
I like this poem .

But from an artistic standpoint,what about when those tortured perpetually misunderstood souls become the Princes, Roger Waters, Madonnas and John Lennon’s of the world and sell records?
Does that suddenly validate them?

I get your point there LittleWing. I was searching for examples of Tortured genius musicians (for a video) and one that kept coming up was Kurt Cobain... sure, he probably had a tortured mind but 'genius' I don't think so - others may disagree ! The same goes for Vincent Van Gogh who suffered with a tortured mind and produced some strange art, but I'm not sure there was much talent, I think that was the only way he could express himself maybe.
Certainly there were many Classical composers who led tortured or tragic lives but they had the genius needed to produce such original, outstanding work.

I changed the title to "synth" rather than keyboard because at wikiloops 'keyboard' would include instruments with keys, not necessarily electronic. I used a Yamaha keyboard with many auto functions but I struggle to simply play a real piano.

Hey, this was the song I produced to go with the poem (One Man Band, above) I added it to YouTube last night so I could post it here, oddly it got many more views than I'd normally get but I think the title is a song by someone more famous than me so it was probably searched but not listened to :)
