Emergent sounds

The possibilities for creating sounds that have never before existed are enormous and are likely limited only by the creator's imagination. Based on what's been created so far (on the "sample-filled website") it's hard to see them being used in a musically practical way (if they or the creation tool were available) anytime soon. But, of course, as the techniques improve, that may change.
It's interesting to consider that this may lead to where "AI" is a creative tool where a new sound (instrument) is created and it is used directly (perhaps with 'traditional instruments') by a human to create original music. But then again, is this just a solution looking for a problem?
