Changing my name

When I registered I wasn't sure if I would be hanging around very long so I picked a obscure user name. Now that I've realized what an incredible resource this is and am thinking of taking an active (and contributing) role, I would like to do so with a user name that says a bit more about me. Can that be done without closing my current account and if so, how do I do it. If I do need to start over, that's OK, but I can't see where we have that option.
