I guess this is a shakuhachi? One of my favorite instruments and you play it extremely well. +1

Raindox It's a xiao, some say it's the predecessor of the shakuhachi.

Wade Yes, sounds identical. Bamboo and end blown the same? I once made a shakuhachi as I love the sound. While finishing it a "splinter" came off one of the tone holes. Went through my hand from between the thumb and first finger through to the bones below the little finger and shattered. Had it surgically removed. Bad JUJU! Still love the sound. +1

Raindox Wow, that must have been a painful and scary experience!! Yes the Xiao is bamboo and end blown like the shaku. Mainly there are two forms: the Northern which I have, long and thin, and the Southern xiao which looks very much like the shaku, with the thicker bamboo root at the end. Important difference is that the xiao a 7 hole flute is, so the tonal system is different. +1
