Very nice my troubadour, the downside of a backing track is that it keeps going and can’t adapt to the subtle changes in tone and timing you want to add, if that is what you meant.

It's not really what I meant, but what you say is very true. It often happens that I hear a track and would have liked the chord progression to move in a different direction than the one recorded. A backing track is a kind of constraint that I as a musician have to "work with" (or in some cases: "work around" :) ) This track was a very
nice starting point for me. What I mean with "kept hitting hard| is that the music impacted me emotionally which made my voice tremble/pitch unstable/etc +1
