When You’re Not Around

When you’re not around
I’m astounded by the sound
Of the hollow walls inside
This house can’t abide
By the silence as I try to hide
My loneliness
Without you the heart fades
In color and glory
It’s a sorrowed story
These days without you…
If I could abide by different rules
Ones that I could try to uphold
We’d have a different life
But that’s the way it goes I guess
My heart continues to cry
Perhaps in another time and space
We could meet in the middle
Of what we both expect
And want to do
But until that time
I’ll hold simple
Fond memories of you….
