I like this mix better, but... it is also louder and i have not set them the same. from the blue scope on the top of the song page i can also see this mix appears to have a different dynamic range, so some of those quieter subtleties are probably more audible.

the other is a software based mastering that uses references to master the song to broadcast ready, this version is only limited by the red bars at the top of the meters and it seems to produce fuller sound and a higher volume from having less of the eq and compressor reductions. there is less of what is termed air here though which is a factor in fatigue and if an album is an easy listen or just beats your ears to death. its metal so I guess in a way its supposed to beat your ears to death :D

This is really good material!
IMNHO:
loud is good
clear is good
great material transcends recording medium.
This one feels more "up front" +1

I like it better too, it's going to make me rethink the whole album now though lol, I need to figure out how I got to point A with this mix, then add the same mastering settings to duplicate this sound on other tracks. its tough when its not all recorded in the same place and in the same year to do that :@

I will be happier in the long run if I go back through it again before its published anyway

as to spend more time now; that is likely true.
as to making them sound similar, maybe there is some other reason these songs "go together" as a group- even though being recorded together is often a hallmark of an album. +1

in the old days they would just toss different sounding crowd noises on them and call it live world tour, here is stuff from everywhere lol

there is a similar theme, I think we are leaning towards Cosmic Grog as a band name and who knows, maybe Gronk from random bellybuttons as an album title :D
